Dairy Unit
Six sharemilkers and five owner/operators are employed on 11 dairy units to milk a combined total of around 7200 cows.
In seven years, milk production increased from 1.3 million kgs to 2.48 million kgs milk solids. Dairy unit targets for 2011 include obtaining a production level of 3.4 million kgms and increasing cow numbers from 7200 to 9000.
Sheep and Beef Unit
In 2005 Wairarapa Moana Incorporation won the prestigious Ahuwhenua Trophy in recognition of its excellence in its sheep and beef farming operations. Chief Judge John Ackland, said that the approach by the incorporation was an excellent example of corporate farming and a great role model for other large scale farming operations in New Zealand.
Forestry
650 hectares of the forestry block will be converted to pasture in December 2007.
The land will be operated initially as a sheep and beef/dairy support unit with an aim to convert to dairy units in the future.
